Sundays @ Monterey Church

When you walk in the door of the Golden State Theater you are likely to be greeted by a warm and friendly face.

You can flow to the back of the lobby for a hot cup of Plumes Coffee — the best in the city. Then its upstairs to drop off the little one’s at Kid’s Church or straight into the Theater to get ready for the gathering. Be prepared, the vibe is much more like the beginning of a music concert than church. The sound of great modern tunes in the background and a quiet chatter among people finding their seats and saying hello. With coffee in hand you can find a seat where you will feel comfortable.

The band and pastor will emerge from backstage and the service will begin with a short prayer asking God to be with us and lead us as we worship him. The band then kicks in for some incredible rock-style worship that is sure to change your opinion of what church music is all about. After the music comes the offering and a short video that is many times a song or clip to set-up this week’s talk.

Pastor Bryan then gives a 20 to 30 minute talk that is based on the Bible and uses it to speak wisdom and truth directly into our lives. The message is challenging and inspiring- full of the love of God and loaded with truth that transforms us.

The Sunday Gathering is designed with you in mind. To make you feel welcome, but to also give space to check things out and have your own personal time with God. These gatherings are safe and appropriate places for anyone regardless of their faith, background, or where they happen to be with God at this stage in their life.

"Monterey Church has been my home now for over two years.

My wife and I were told about this little place in Monterey that was reaching young people for Christ in powerful and unique ways.

From day one we have felt like this place was home, even being involved in the music ministry.

We look forward to growing with the friends we have made here!"
